Sunday Funday

With Adam out of town for the weekend, Ivy and I had a girl's weekend. As you can tell from the recent posts we've had fun trying on cute outfits and taking pictures. I was able to do some cooking (Veggie Soup, Lemony Parmesan Pasta, Homemade Lara Bars) and sewing, and had a relaxing wine/chocolate/Bachelor night. Ivy is getting more and more smiley and interactive. I think she may have a goofy little personality coming out already!

Baby signs?

This is how Ivy took her afternoon nap today

Bowling

Some friends invited us bowling this weekend. We are still somewhat hesitant to take Ivy out and about because we've had uncontrollable screaming fits or diaper blowouts that somehow cover her top, bottom, mom, and dad, but we said yes. I can't remember the last time we've been bowling. Ivy was an angel. I think she liked all of the noise in the bowling alley. We had fun singing along with the cheesy 80's music videos like Kriss Kross and MC Hammer on the big screens over the alleys, and I had my first Blue Moon in a loooong time. It was a great night!

Dear Ivy,

My mom gave me a handwritten letter on the day she drove me to college that meant so much to me. It talked about how they'd chosen my name, a little about my childhood, and how very proud they were of me. This letter was part of my inspiration for journaling. The other part came from my love of sappy books, namely when I read Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas by James Patterson.

I just started a journal of letters for Ivy. My plan is to write to tell her about details of our family, my childhood, mom and dad's story (e.g., how we met, proposal story, fun dates, etc.), and moments and funny stories we want to remember about her growing up. I want this to be a very special keepsake that I give her on her graduation or wedding day. It's like me to have great ideas and not keep up with them, so please remind me to write!

Right Side of the Crib

Unlike Mommy, Ivy always wakes up bright eyed with big smiles ready to start the day.
We love these brief moments before she realizes she's starving and wants to eat NOW!
